About LTC

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to help students communicate effectively in English across cultures and borders in a welcoming and secure multicultural environment.

Our vision is that our students and staff will experience the best  of ELT practice. High standards of service, honesty and openness to change will drive forward the company’s growth and continuous improvement.

Reasons to study at LTC

Guarantee of Quality

All our schools are accredited by the British Council. This organisation regularly inspect all aspects of the schools, from management to teaching, student welfare and the care of under 18s.

Protection for Students

All our schools are members of English UK, the professional body for English language schools in Britain. This protects students in two important ways. Your course would be guaranteed even if our schools closed and you can complain to English UK if you are not happy with our services.

Safe Location

Our school is located in a safe residential area of Eastbourne. This is a unique school in one of the most beautiful towns in the south-east of England.

Caring Staff

Our school is medium sized. The staff will get to know you individually and will be happy to help if you have any questions or problems.

Courses Taught by Qualified English Language Teachers

Under British Council regulations, all our teachers must have a university degree and an English language teaching qualification that is recognised by the British Council.

(In exceptional circumstances, we may employ a teacher who does not possess one of these qualifications if we reasonably deem them to be appropriately qualified and experienced.)

Carefully Selected Homestay Accommodation

Homestay is an excellent way to learn about the British way of life and practise your English in a relaxed setting outside the classroom. LTC is able to offer homestay within walking distance of the school.

A Varied Social Programme to Help You Make Friends

Relaxing and having fun is an essential part of your language learning experience. Our programmes are designed to help you make friends and get to know the local area.

School Principal who can Make Quick Decisions

The Principal of our school has autonomy. When a student or an agent needs it, they can make a quick decision to help.

Paul Clark

MA Oxon, Dip RSA TEFLA, MA TESOL
Director

“I come from a family of teachers and became an English teacher 35 years ago in order to travel and meet people from other countries. I have taught in England, Italy and Thailand and have worked as a teacher trainer, materials writer, academic manager and manager.

“I have two roles within the company: I act as Principal of LTC Eastbourne and as Director. I have a strong interest in customer service and am always looking for ways to improve the services we offer students, parents and agents.

“Originally from Manchester (United, not City), I love living in Eastbourne because of the beautiful countryside nearby. I especially like walking on the South Downs and in Friston Forest.”

Wendy Teraoka

BA (Hons), MA, PGCE, Dip RSA TEFLA
Director

“I started as a secondary school teacher but changed to English language teaching because of my love for the English language and experiencing other cultures. I’ve worked in Japan, Algeria, Finland, Mozambique and Sweden as well as in the U.K in various roles as a teacher, ESP specialist, teacher trainer, academic manager, principal and director. As you can see, one of my obsessions is travelling and I also love literature, the theatre and gardening.

“Here at LTC, we want our students, agents and staff to experience the best of ELT practice. I oversee quality and value within the school as well as dealing with finance. A key strength of LTC is its staff and I am responsible for human resources to ensure our loyal and committed staff continue to give you great service. As a working mother with two daughters, I recognise the trust our students and their families put in us. Academic progress and our students’ welfare are our key goals and I always welcome any feedback on these.”

Dominic Barrow

BA (Hons)
Marketing Coordinator

“I joined LTC Eastbourne in October 2017 as Marketing Assistant, having completed a four year degree in the summer of 2017. I am confident that my background in marketing will enhance the department here at LTC Eastbourne. Alongside educational marketing experience, I have held previous marketing roles within professional sports.

“I have a great understanding of the language industry, having previously worked as both a group leader and an activity instructor. I have a passion for travel, having recently returned from Thailand and Indonesia. I enjoy promoting the school across the world, whether that is via Facebook or an airplane.

“I spend my spare time watching and playing sports, with football and cricket on the television. I referee semi – professional football. This has allowed me to travel and see football pitches across the world, including the USA. I also enjoy photography, which is aided by the beautiful settings here in Eastbourne.”

Matt Beaumont

BA (Hons)
Marketing Assistant

“I joined the marketing team at LTC Eastbourne in September 2018. I have a background in marketing as a Copywriter and Social Media Executive, with experience in sectors such as charity, automotive finance, and accounting tech.

I am excited to represent LTC Eastbourne as it ties two of my loves together –travel and learning. I moved to Eastbourne last year after an unexpected adventure across the world to rescue the cousin of my girlfriend (now wife) in Malaysia. We travelled all the way back to the UK by land with many incredible stops and daring feats along the way.

I am also a professional actor, with a range of credits spanning over 13 years. My passion is theatre (especially site-specific projects) and I’m a founding member of the Brighton-based theatre company, The Imaginauts, who swan-dived onto the Brighton Fringe scene in 2017.

Alongside my marketing and acting work, I am writing a play about my experiences abroad, as well as embarking on my own learning endeavours with sports massage therapy and Italian.”
