English + Work Experience
This programme gives students the opportunity to take an English language course followed by an unpaid internship spent working in a company/organisation in Eastbourne.
It gives students a chance to practise their English in a real working environment, helping them to gain experience and skills that will help them with a career in the future.
Please note that this only the following students can take this programme:
- Students from the European Union and EEA countries
- Students from Japan, Korea, Monaco, Taiwan or Hong Kong who have a Youth Mobility Visa.
An example timetable for your English lessons, prior to work experience, can be seen below:
When are the internships?
We can arrange an internship at any time of year, but please note many English companies close for two weeks at Christmas time.
Students can normally begin internships as soon as your English language course finishes.
What type of internship can take part in?
We offer 2 different kinds of internship:
- Short Term – 2-4 weeks in charity retail, social care or general office administration.
- Specialist – 12-24 weeks in an area where specialist knowledge or experience is needed, such as architecture, finance, graphic design or laboratory work.
British Council Accreditation
Please note that British Council accreditation covers all aspects of our English language courses but not work experience internships.
Certificates and Reports
At the end of the course, we will provide students with a certificate and a report from their teacher, providing students have attended at least 80% of lessons.
Social Programmes
Whilst you study with us we will make sure you have plenty of time to have fun and make friends. We offer varied social programmes throughout the year for adult students which vary each week. We suggest students bring £15 per week to cover activity costs.
