Museums & Galleries

Eastbourne is home to a selection of different art galleries and museums. From the Redoubt Fortress and Military Museum, a 200+ year old fortress built as part of the British anti-invasion preparations during the Napoleonic Wars. Historical Landmarks

Eastbourne has an extensive history, with remains suggesting that the town stretches as far back as the Stone Age and beyond. With such history, there is no surprise there is also an abundance of significant historical landmarks and points of interest in and around the town.

From Eastbourne Pier, a pleasure pier which opened in 1870, to The Wish Tower, one of 103 gun towers built on the south and east coast as part of anti-invasion preparations during the Napoleonic Wars, there is loads to see in Eastbourne. Attractions

From the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway, a 1/8th scale miniature railway situated within a beautiful country park, to Drusillas, a small zoo caring for both wild and domestic animals, you are sure to find something for everyone. During the summer months, and even in the winter too, there is always something going on in Eastbourne.

From the Eastbourne International, an international tennis tournament which is widely considered as a “warm-up” for the Wimbledon Grand Slam event. To Eastbourne’s Airbourne Airshow, the UK’s best free airshow with displays from the likes of the Red Arrows and Typhoon. Eastbourne also hosts an annual Extreme Sports Festival, Beach Life, which is an adventure filled weekend taking place on Eastbourne’s seafront. There is always something going on in Eastbourne and so much to do…
